Germania Society Of Cincinnati

The Germania Society of Cincinnati is a cultural organization dedicated to preserving and celebrating German heritage in the Greater Cincinnati, OH region. Since its official founding on May 16, 1964, the Society has been instrumental in establishing and maintaining Cincinnati's most beloved German-American traditions and events. The organization hosts two major annual celebrations—Oktoberfest and Christkindlmarkt, the latter of which has become the largest of its kind in Cincinnati since its inception in 1999. Additionally, the Germania Society organizes semi-annual Volksmarches in spring and fall, providing community members with opportunities to engage in traditional German cultural activities. The Society sponsors multiple cultural groups including the Schützenverein (Shooting Society), Jagdhornbläser Gruppe (Hunting Horn Players Group), Prinzengarde (Royal Guard), and a dedicated Genealogy Group. Beyond event hosting, the Germania Society maintains its Klubhaus and Germania Park facilities, which serve as gathering spaces for the community. The organization also plays an active role in the broader Cincinnati community through its membership in the German-American Citizens League of Cincinnati and support of local causes. Whether through cultural celebrations, group activities, or community engagement, the Germania Society continues its mission to uphold German customs and traditions while welcoming members of all faiths.
