The German American Citizens Association of Kansas City, based in Raytown, MO, is a community organization dedicated to celebrating and preserving German heritage, language, and culture through a diverse array of social, educational, and charitable activities. The organization hosts themed dance parties from September through May, featuring authentic German and popular dance music performed by live bands. These events include celebrations such as Fasching Dance, Maifest, Oktoberfest, Weinfest, and New Year's Eve parties, with traditional German cuisine prepared by experienced caterers. During summer months, the association organizes the Schuetzenfest picnic featuring entertainment, contests for adults and children, prizes, and traditional food and beverages. The organization also presents Kristkindlmarkt, an annual Christmas craft fair held in the fall, and hosts a beloved Children's Christmas Party where young members showcase talents and receive visits from Saint Nikolaus. The German American Citizens Association participates actively in Kansas City's Ethnic Enrichment Festival and periodically hosts cultural groups and bands visiting from Germany. The Ladies Auxiliary conducts monthly social meetings and organizes fundraising initiatives supporting Truman Medical Center East. With very reasonable membership dues of $30 annually for families and $25 for individuals, the organization welcomes new members to join its vibrant community.
